"Total Domination" was the theme of this year's IFC Formal Rush as Pi Kapps took every opportunity to showcase the Gamma Phi chapter.
Archon David Shaw and Vice Archon Brad Seibert are shown here. They along with Nick Hall, Rush Chairman, and Chaplain Brandon Petty worked non-stop from the first day of classes to make sure this year's rush would be a huge success.
Every brother pitched in and helped make this one of the most successful formal rush weeks the chapter has seen in several years. Every sorority made a sheet sign for the chapter and they were proudly hung in front of the house and across the campus. Seibert, with some help from sorority members, made new display boards which were displayed in the party room.
Each night had a theme and purpose. A beautiful young lady video interviewed each prospect and that was later watched by the brothers as they discussed what they are looking for in an associate member. Brother Andrew Schneider spoke on Push America and community service was a major emphasis as the brothers spoke with the rushees throughout the week.
Not only did the brothers rush hard, but our current pledges got into the action by sharing their own stories and personal experiences with the chapter.
During the day, Pi Kapps met potentials in the cafeteria for lunch, pulling tables together and making a big scene as their table was the place to be. At night after all the rushees had left, the guys were able to sit around and discuss the night's highlights. There was a strong sense of energy and pride that only comes after hard work. As brothers shared about each guy they began to define the ideal Pi Kapp brother. Nick Hall commented after Brandon Petty delivered a moving testimony. Hall said, "Man, that gave me chills when Petty was talking about how proud he was to be a Pi Kapp!"
There were numerous positive comments made by the attendees, other fraternities, and the administration. It was very apparent that Gamma Phi had put its best foot forward and others took notice. Gamma Phi has a strong brotherhood and friendliness which is overwhelmingly contagious.
While formal rush has been four days, the chapter has worked hard since the first day of school to develop friendships and make connections with quality guys from across the campus. Entering formal rush with nine committed guys took the pressure off and allowed the guys to relax and just be themselves. Looks like this will be one of the larger pledge classes the chapter has seen of late. Stay tuned for more details and the final result of IFC Formal Rush 2008. Pi Kapp Total Domination!
