The Story of the Stained Glass

My mother, Joyce Brown, made the window as a house warming gift to the chapter in 1998 in honor of the new house.
She was not familiar with Greek lettering and mistook the Alpha in HMAS as a delta.
So the motto at the bottom reads OYDEN DIASPASEI HMDS.
We didn't have the heart to tell her that it was wrong since she had worked so hard on the window.
Pi Kappa Phi National President Mark Timmes had come down to see the new house and reviewed the window.
He loved the spelling error and told us to leave it as is and not to worry about correcting it (which we had already decided not to do because of cost).
He thought it would be a nice little "easter egg" for pledge scavenger hunts.
The Coat of Arms is a nice addition to the house and welcomes everyone who enters. Thank you Joyce for this beautiful addition to our house. No other fraternity on campus can top it!
